Okay so I’ve been veering moody with my editing lately. Not necessarily moody, but maybe bold? Not really colorful, but toned? I don’t know what you’d call it but I’ve been having so much fun with it and I’m so grateful that the shift has been generating positive feedback from my clients and followers. In fact, a few of my more recent inquiries have come in requesting moody editing for their upcoming sessions.
“We’ve been loving your more recent edits- we definitely want you to edit our wedding in that style!”
About a year ago I was having some identity crisis issues because I thought I had to pick one edit style and stick with it. Forever.
Don’t get me wrong, I want people to know exactly what they’re getting when they hire me as their photographer in Arizona, but I also never like to feel like I HAVE to do things a certain way. Frankly, that’s why I’m in business with myself. At the end of the day this is why I always have clients specify if they have a specific editing style in mind when they book. And in Veronica and Matt's case, they were sure they wanted moody editing for their engagement photos in the Flagstaff forest.
What do you think? I personally love our set of beer photos the most and Matt let me know that Sierra Nevada sent them a care package after they shared some of the photos with the brand! We love that recognition and personalization by big brands.
We've been chatting a bit since this session and if all goes to plan and aligns I'm hoping to spend more time with these two when their wedding is on the books!
Anyway I'm looking forward to continuing playing and exploring when it comes to how I shoot and edit. Remember, we're not meant to stay the same forever! Who knows what’s next, but right now I’m loving bold, moody and neutral.
