When we got bombarded with snow last year in Flagstaff I was committed to planning more Phoenix and desert photoshoots for this winter and boy has it been the perfect little escape from our extra cold days! The change of scenery is one of my favorite things about being an Arizona resident now. No matter the time of year, there's always somewhere to go that will keep the creativity rolling. In February I was lucky enough to have a handful of trips down to the Phoenix area, one of them being a weekend full of sessions at the Superstition Mountains. I wanted to share Amanda and Kurt's desert bridal photoshoot because not only are they stunning but they've become some wonderfully loyal and kind clients that I've so enjoyed getting to watch flourish since meeting them about a year ago.
Amanda first reached out to me for an engagement photoshoot here in Flagstaff which doubled as their pregnancy announcement photos! We shot on a cloudy, chilly day but their personalities were warm and bright - which I'm thrilled to say is just how they are. A few months ago I got another inquiry for them to celebrate their wedding in the mountains, which I was unfortunately unavailable for. Despite things not aligning, Amanda + Kurt scheduled a separate bridal photoshoot in Phoenix!
Separate bridal photoshoots are such a fun excuse for couples to dress back up in their wedding attire and relive memories from their wedding day. A lot of times clients who schedule a bridal photoshoot separate from their wedding day do so to be more present on their actual wedding day and not be pulled out of their moments with family and friends for photos. In Amanda + Kurt's case, they were excited to bring along their daughter and Amanda's parents to get some photos with the family all together!
We'd actually planned this session a few weeks prior to when we ultimately met up but a terrible accident on the I-17 shut down the freeway when I was heading down and I had to turn around. I'm so grateful that these two were flexible and understanding.
We had the perfect weather and spent the entirety of our session laughing, getting to catch up, enjoying the outdoors and just being creative with out ideas. The result are some of my favorite photos yet! Not sure if that's because of the clients, the new location, the lighting or a combination of everything but I hope you enjoy these shots as much as I do.
And for you Phoenix folks, keep inviting me to your neck of the woods so I can continue to defrost throughout our snowy winters here in Flagstaff.
